I’m really excited about my new film “The Man in Maroon” for many reasons but mainly because my vision for making this film is to appeal to mass audiences worldwide and in doing so, trying to touch on and inspire the humanity that exists in all of us. “The Man in Maroon” will be unlike any other film made about the Dalai Lama…Here’s the first in a series of promo teasers that will be released over the next year:

The Moustache Brothers are not just a traditional a-nyeint pwe (vaudeville folk opera with dance, music, and jokes)…they are artists brave enough to speak out in a country where a joke against the government can get you jailed. Lu Paw, the English speaker of the three, provides some tongue-in-cheek humour about Burma and gave permission for this footage to be made public. Lu Paw’s brother, Par Par Lay was spoken about in the Hugh Grant film “About A Boy”. In 1996, he and cousin Lu Zaw were sentenced to seven years hard labour for telling jokes about Burma’s generals at an Independence Day celebration at Aung San Suu Kyi’s compound in Yangon.

High Crimes

I’ve recently finished reading “High Crimes - The Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed” by Michael Kodas. I had no idea about the lawlessness, crime and deception that goes on on Everest. I recommend the book….it’s a great read and a real eye-opener…it’s such a pity about the criminal and downright selfish behaviour of some climbers.
